We have refilled the network and restored supplies to those areas affected by the burst water main (Flint, Holywell, Ffynnongroyw, Greenfield, Llanerch y Mor, Mostyn, Oakenholt, Talacre, Whitford and Mancot).

However we are aware of temporary discolouration issues affecting water supplies to households in Connah’s Quay. This has been caused as we have needed to move the water around the network to maintain supplies and will be temporary.

We are contacting those customers on our Priority Services Register and those households (text to mobile / landlines) which may be affected.

Some households may still be experiencing discoloured water, but this is temporary. We are flushing the system and customers can also run their taps for a short period to help it clear.

Customers can collect water supplies from our bottled water station at the Jade Jones Pavilion in Flint (CH6 5ER) which remains open as a precaution.

More information is available here. We will also continue to provide updates on In Your Area and on our social media channels.

WaterSafe is a free online search facility funded by the water industry to help customers find competent and qualified plumbers.

WaterSafe is a free online search facility funded by the water industry to help customers find competent and qualified plumbers.

The scheme is a national accreditation body which checks and approves businesses and their plumbers to give customers reassurance about the tradespeople undertaking work for them.

It brings together thousands of qualified contractors employed by plumbing businesses from the seven existing approved contractors’ schemes across the UK, including:

  • The Water Industry Approved Plumbers’ Scheme (WIAPS),
  • Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors (APHC),
  • Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE),
  • Scottish and Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers’ Federation (SNIPEF),
  • Anglian Water’s APLUS,
  • Severn Trent’s Watermark

Their aim is to help you find the nearest qualified plumbing engineer local to you to help keep water supplies safe and healthy in homes and businesses.

Using an approved plumber/plumbing business helps prevent the risk of drinking water being contaminated by poor plumbing practices or sub-standard products.

The scheme is supported by the Drinking Water Inspectorate in England and Wales, which provide independent reassurance that public water supplies are safe and drinking water quality is acceptable to consumers.

NHS guidance advises all hospital trusts to use approved WaterSafe approved plumbers in their premises, in order to safeguard public health.

Plumbers approved through WaterSafe have specific training in the Water Fittings Regulations and Byelaws, to ensure they meet the strict legal requirements for installing water pipes and fittings.
