Thursday: Think Water

Thursday: Think Water

18 January 2024

Since 2020, energy prices have more than doubled and high levels of inflation means the money available for UK households is increasingly tight.

According to research undertaken by National Energy Action (NEA) and YouGov, 26% of UK adults have struggled to afford to pay their energy bills in the past three months.

When our vulnerable customer team are out and about in communities speaking with our customers, we often find that most are looking for ways they can save on their energy bills, but many hadn’t considered whether they could save on their water bill.

Did you know, at Welsh Water we have a range of financial support options available that helped support over 146,000 customers last year?

Peter O’Hanlon, Head of Vulnerable Customer Support & Digital Services at Welsh Water, said: “At Welsh Water we have a range of financial support options that helped support over 146,000 customers last year.

“Whilst our teams work hard to raise awareness across our communities about the support on offer, and partnership working helps this awareness spread further, we are conscious that there may still be customers who are missing out on financial support they are eligible for.

“The cost-of-living increase has us all looking for ways to save money and I am urging customers to ‘think water’ when it comes to making savings. Reach out to us and see how we can help.”
