Barry Romilly Bowling Club successfully secured £500 funding from Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s Community Fund. This was awarded as part of the not-for-profit company’s £6.5 million investment in the area to upgrade the wastewater system near Porthkerry Country Park and Weycock Cross.

The successful and long-established bowling club is a social hub for over 65 members and provides a great space for people to meet up, socialise and keep active. The donation helped to refurbish the club’s kitchen which is used regularly by its members.

Paul James, Club Secretary at Barry Romilly Bowling Club said: “The cost to refurbish the kitchen came from a number of sources, one of which was of course, the very kind donation from Welsh Water. We are very proud of what we have achieved at the club and we have to thank the company for their support.”

Welsh Water’s Community Fund is a chance for communities to boost fundraising efforts for good causes in their area. If you live in an area where work is taking place – and you’re fundraising for projects to benefit the community – you could receive funding from Welsh Water up to a value of £1,000.
