Welsh Water Developer services Forum

Our developer forums go back face-to-face

30 June 2022

When we held our last physical developer forum back in November 2019, little did we know it would be the last event we’d hold face-to-face for the next two and a half years!

The pandemic certainly forced us to do things differently. In the time before covid, a key part of our programme of engagement with developer customers included holding two physical events a year, called our developer forums.

At these events, we’d update on priority areas identified by customers, such as new regulation, improvements we’ve made to our service and hear valuable feedback from them on how they were experiencing working with us on new water and sewerage connections.

Fast forward to mid-2022 and we finally held the forums physically once again, with one held in Cardiff and the other in Chester.

With over 65 attendees, topics ranged from an update on phosphates which is delaying new housing delivery and how we’re proactively working with other stakeholders to look at sustainable short and long-term solutions to the issue, how developer customers can make their new homes more water efficient, and how to manage sustainable drainage on development sites.

At the Chester event we also welcomed guest speaker Stephen Beauchamp, director at OTB, a specialist geotechnical and civil engineering company who worked with Chester West and Chester Council on its new surface water drain.

We’d like to thank everyone who joined us and made the forum a success. And most of all – thank you to our developer customers for taking part in our back-to-normal format, asking those ever-insightful questions and openly sharing thoughts on key industry topics.

If you’re interested in attending future developer forums, please email developer.services@dwrcymru.com and we will add you to our mailing list.
