We have refilled the network and restored supplies to those areas affected by the burst water main (Flint, Holywell, Ffynnongroyw, Greenfield, Llanerch y Mor, Mostyn, Oakenholt, Talacre, Whitford and Mancot).

However we are aware of temporary discolouration issues affecting water supplies to households in Connah’s Quay. This has been caused as we have needed to move the water around the network to maintain supplies and will be temporary.

We are contacting those customers on our Priority Services Register and those households (text to mobile / landlines) which may be affected.

Some households may still be experiencing discoloured water, but this is temporary. We are flushing the system and customers can also run their taps for a short period to help it clear.

Customers can collect water supplies from our bottled water station at the Jade Jones Pavilion in Flint (CH6 5ER) which remains open as a precaution.

More information is available here. We will also continue to provide updates on In Your Area and on our social media channels.

Chief Executive meets graduates for Q&A session

23 April 2021

On Monday, our Chief Executive, Peter Perry, took part in a Q&A with around 20 members of our graduate programme. The session gave the grads exclusive access to find out more about his current role and his journey to get there. Here, waste graduate Lowri Davies explains what she learned from the experience.

“Having the opportunity to spend an hour asking Peter Perry questions about his forty-year career in the water industry was a privilege for all of us graduates and I learned a lot from the experience.

I work as an operational supervisor on the frontline and knowing that Peter started in operations and is now Chief Executive of the business is inspirational. We all wanted to know what it takes to make that journey and his advice was to do something you enjoy and where you feel part of something important, such as providing an essential public service.

He also told us to build strong relationships with our colleagues and stakeholders by being open-minded, genuine, and trustworthy. I completely agree with this and have also found it imperative to get to know as many colleagues as possible within the business during the graduate programme. I really think it’s important to get a feel for people’s experiences, thoughts, and values and to really understand how the business works.

Peter also explained to us the importance of learning how to deliver a good service to customers as well as balancing the books and stressed the importance of health and safety, especially in our industry.

I already felt proud to work for Welsh Water, but I do even more so after this call. Thanks Peter.”
