Celebrating another developer forum

Celebrating another developer forum

2 December 2022

Once again we were able to hold another face-to-face developer services forum last week, after Covid meant that our events temporarily went online for two years. It was a pleasure to be able to hold another event in person and connect with our customers once again!

Attendees at the developer forum included organisations like housebuilders and housing associations. In case you aren’t familiar with them, at our developer forum events we generally update customers on their priority topics, such as new regulation, improvements we’ve made to our service and hear valuable feedback on how customers are experiencing working with us on new water and sewerage connections.

Last week we hosted our second in-person developer forums after the hiatus caused by Covid. We had an excellent turnout of approximately 70 attendees from various industries between our Cardiff and Chester events.

Topics ranged from the issue of phosphate levels when planning new developments and how we are looking to assist with finding solutions to help drive housing delivery with other stakeholders, to changes to developer services charges being implemented from 2023.

At the event Welsh Water were able to launch an exciting new initiative. This will involve a qualification to become a Water Industry Approved Plumber (WIAPS), enabling fully trained approved contractors to be able to self-certify new water connection works that have been undertaken, eliminating the need for trench inspections by Welsh Water. This will speed up processes and also help to improve health and safety on site – a win-win all round.

Feedback on the forum was positive, with 100% of attendees rating it positively.

If the pandemic’s taught us anything, it’s confirmed just how important it is for us to regularly engage with and actively listen to the views of our developer customers so that we can hear their concerns and feedback.

We’d like to thank everyone who joined us again, as well as those who joined us for the first time, and made the forum a success. And most of all – thank you to our developer customers for taking part in our back-to-normal format, asking those ever-insightful questions and openly sharing thoughts on key industry topics.

If you’re interested in attending future developer forums, please email developer.services@dwrcymru.com and we will add you to our mailing list.
