Students

Students are billed for the time they are tenants of a property. For example if you sign a tenancy agreement from 1st July, we will bill you from 1st July.

The way in which we bill will vary between properties with a meter and those without a meter:

  • Metered properties, we will bill you based on the water you use, measured in cubic metres, plus a fixed charge based on the size of meter at the property. Find out more information about our metered charges. If no water is used then only the fixed charges will apply.
  • We will bill unmeasured properties from the date your tenancy starts to 31st March. From 1st April a new bill will be issued for the next 12 months for which you are responsible until you move out.

  • When to let us know you've moved...

    If you have a water meter:

    • Let us know on or after the day you move.
    • Remember to take a final or opening reading on the day you move. We can then bill you for what you have used whilst you were responsible.
    • If you are unable to take a reading yourself, please let us know 10 working days before you move. We can then arrange for a meter reader to visit on the day you move, to take a reading on your behalf.

    If you do not have a water meter:

    • You can let us know up to 14 days before you move house.

    Moving into your student accommodation

    To complete our online form, you will need to provide us with:

    • The names of the people you live with.
    • Your student property address.
    • The date your tenancy agreement starts.
    • Your landlord or letting agent's details.
    • Your bank account details if you wish to pay by monthly Direct Debit.

    Moving out of your student accommodation

    To complete our online form, you will need to provide us with:

    • The names of the people you lived with.
    • Your student property address.
    • The date your tenancy ends.
    • A forwarding address for a nominated housemate (as we can only hold one forwarding address on our records). We can then send a final bill to the address you chose.
    • Your landlord or letting agent's details.
    • Your bank account details if you wish to pay your final bill via Direct Debit.
