We’re really committed to helping our customers pay their water bill so we have introduced a scheme called HelpU. This is designed to help low income households who struggle to make ends meet.
How it works
To qualify, your household’s total income needs to be £15,000 or less per year. This means the total amount of money that’s received by everyone living in your home. This includes any paid work or benefits such as Pension Credit, Carer’s Allowance, etc.
If you qualify, we’ll lower your bill depending on your income, which could be up £250 per year.
If your application is successful, the reduced charge will be applied to your account from 1st April or your occupation date.
If you have a meter and you don’t use a lot of water, you may already pay less than the HelpU tariff, so you’ll be better off staying as you are. We always advise you on the best option for you.
How to apply
Applying is easy, all you need to do is:
- Complete our simple calculator; you’ll need to know how much income each person in the household receives and how often. Check you have permission to give us this information with everyone that lives with you.
- Give us your details.
- Confirm that you’ve read and understood the Terms and Conditions.

What happens next?
If your household’s income is calculated as more than £15,000, we’ll let you know straight away that your application is unsuccessful and tell you about other options that may help.
If your household’s income is £15,000 or less, we’ll do some checks to validate the information that you provide us with. We’ll let you know within 10 working days if your application is successful and of any changes we make to your bill and payments.
