At Welsh Water we are always looking of ways to save energy and to obtain energy from renewable sources.
We use solar panels on some of our sites - in 2015 we generated around 4 million kWh from solar.
We have hydro generation systems on some dams - in 2015 we produced around 45 million kWh from hydro.
Some of our wastewater treatment works generate electricity from the sludge that we remove from the waste water. This is often referred to as poo power!
In 2015 we produced almost 50 million kWh of energy from anaerobic digestion Poo Power!
