There are regular events at our reservoirs and sites around Wales. The following events have currently been planned and further details will be posted in our news area closer to the time. Alternatively please contact the appropriate ranger’s office.

August
3 Sunday | Caban Ramble
A 3 mile guided walk looking at the history and natural history of the area. A steady climb of 170m over 1.5miles. Meet at Llannerch y Cawr car park at 2pm (or at Visitor Centre at 1.45pm for a lift to start), back about 5pm.
5 Tuesday | Children’s Critter Crafts
Come along on this children’s event and make something to take home. Turn up anytime between 2pm and 4pm at the Visitor Centre. No unaccompanied children please.
9 Saturday | Pet Show
A chance to show off your pets at our eighth Pet Show. Entries (20p per pet) taken from 1.30pm at the Visitor Centre, judging at 2.30pm. Sorry, no dogs. For further information telephone 01597 810390.
10 Sunday | Village Tour
A very easy one mile walk to look at the history of Caban Coch Dam, Workers’ Village and surrounding features. Meet at the Visitor Centre at 2pm., back about 3.30pm
13 Wednesday | Bug Bonanza
An afternoon of pond-dipping and bug-hunts suitable for all the family. Come along and discover more about the exciting world of bugs. Meet at Dol y Mynach lay-by at 2pm, till 4pm. It is ESSENTIAL to book a place on this event - please ring 01597 810898.
16 Saturday | History Walk - Roman Invasion
Archaeologist Bill Britnell leads a moderate 3 mile walk to the Roman Invasion marching camp on Esgair Perfedd, the Maen-serth standing stone and a number of other sites. Meet at Pont ar Elan at 12pm; back about 4pm (bring lunch). A joint event with the Cambrian Mountains Society.
16 Saturday - 31 Sunday | Painting the Valley
An exhibition by Karl Sylvester. 'Plein air' painting is the most direct way of responding to the landscape as an artist. It literally involves being there, immersing yourself in it - looking, feeling and attempting to catch something that is both fleeting and enduring. It is difficult and exhilarating. Open from 10am to 5.30pm at the Visitor Centre.
21 Thursday | Bug Hunt
Become a bug-hunter for the afternoon and discover more about the fascinating world of mini-beasts! Suitable for all the family. Meet at the Visitor Centre at 2pm, back about 4pm. It is ESSENTIAL to book a place on this event - please ring 01597 810898.
24 Sunday | Village Tour

27 Wednesday | Dam Open Day
A chance for you to go into Pen y Garreg Dam and up to the central tower. Our team of Rangers will be on hand to direct people and answer any questions. Children should be carefully supervised at all times. Park at Penbont car park and take a walk through the woodland, up the steps to the Dam entrance. Dam open from 1pm to 4pm. Entrance £1 - children free. All proceeds to the charity WaterAid.
30 Saturday | Dambusters Walk

6 Wednesday | Summer Holiday Fun 3!
During the holidays, rangers will be running a series of activity days for the family. Weather permitting, you can choose the following activities: a boat trip; fishing; mountain bike rides; environmental games and crafts. Priority is given to children. Meet on the patio outside the Visitor Centre at 10.00am. *The Princes Trust will be attending some Fun Days to deliver additional activities! *A small fee will be charged with all funds going to the Prince’s Trust Charity (£2 per adult + £1 per child)
15 Friday | “No Flies On Us”
Worm fishing and basic casting tuition for youngsters. The cost is £8.00 with all equipment provided and a 2 fish bag limit. Children aged 12 and over need to buy a rod licence (from any P.O.) Meet in front of the Visitor Centre at 10.00am. Places are limited so please call: 01437 532694 to reserve your rod.

29 Friday | “A Taste of Trout”
This is a fly fishing course for beginners. All equipment, expert tuition and a 2 fish bag limit for the remainder of the day is included. The cost £10 but you also need to purchase a rod licence (from any P.O.) Meet in front of the Visitor Centre at 10.00am. Places are limited so please call: 01437 532694 to reserve your rod.
